 A message from the Dean

Welcome to the College of Business at Florida Atlantic University.  We are proud of our College - our faculty, students, and programs. Whether you are a prospective student, a current student, an alumnus, or a member of the business community, you will find that our College embraces the core values of teaching, research, and service in all of our endeavors.

You might be surprised to learn that there are now approximately 34,000 graduates of the College of Business.  About 75% of the College of Business alumni live in Florida and 60% live in Palm Beach and Broward counties, assuming their geographical dispersion is similar to that of all of FAU graduates.  If you live in those two counties, it is likely that many FAU graduates are part of your business and social network.

The College of Business enrolls approximately 8,000 students and has six departments with a broad array of majors and programs.  The College offers bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees, as well as praiseworthy executive education opportunities.  The College is accredited by the AACSB International which represents the highest worldwide standard of achievement for business schools.

If you have not recently visited the College of Business, and you come for a visit, you would see a different campus.  It now includes the new beautiful Office Depot Executive Education Center and a new wireless classroom building with a simulated trading floor.  A wing of the original building was entirely renovated to house our Student Services.

With FAU having celebrated its 40th anniversary, we reflect upon our accomplishments and are proud of our growth.  This growth was achieved through the hard work and expertise of our faculty, and has resulted in considerable national recognition.  For example:

  • Business Week's recently published list of best EMBA programs in the "South" included the College of Business's program
  • Business Week's recently published list for best Executive Education programs in the U.S. included the  College of Business's program
  • Florida Atlantic University has been named to The Princeton Review's list of "Best Business Schools" for 2008 and 2009
  • The Princeton Review honored FAU for having professors that are recognized leaders in the business industry who offer classes that are challenging and involve cases from real-world scenarios, and for its helpful alumni, solid faculty teamwork and strong interpersonal skills
  • the Virtual MBA has been ranked among the nation's top 25 on-line business programs by U.S. News and World Report
  • the Department of Finance was ranked 35th in the world based on a compilation of published research in sixteen core financial journals and 2nd in the nation for published research in financial education
  • the Entrepreneurship Program was included in the top 50 in the country by Success Magazine and was ranked as the best Florida-housed program by Entrepreneurship;  and, the College houses the high profile Adams Center for Entrepreneurship which bridges the gap between academics and practice

As Dean, I look forward to building on our established strengths by drawing from the quality of our faculty, staff, programs, and students, and by embracing the larger and dynamic learning environment that FAU offers.  And, by the way, if you are in the area, I invite you to visit our new facilities - you will be pleasantly surprised.
