The Department of Economics is housed within the College of Business, offering both bachelors and masters degree programs in economics.
TEACHING
Students pursuing degrees in economics are trained for careers in many fields, including banking, government, data analysis, and more. A degree in economics provides a solid foundation for students pursuing further graduate work, including law school, the MBA, and PhD programs. In addition, our students benefit by learning current and cutting-edge economic theory and applications that will enhance the overall quality of their education. RESEARCH
The economics faculty comprises fourteen professors with PhDs from Cornell, Florida, Florida International, George Washington, Houston, Purdue, Maryland, Texas and other top universities, along with a staff of well-trained instructors, visiting faculty, and secretarial assistants. The main objective of the department is to push the frontier of economics by publishing high quality work in top-level publications. Such accomplishments have already been noted, with faculty publishing in leading journals such as American Economic Review,the Review of Economics and Statistics, Journal of Public Economics, Journal of Monetary Economics, Journal of Development Economics, Journal of Money, Credit, and Banking, Journal of Economic Education, Journal of Marketing, International Journal of Industrial Organization, Southern Economic Journal, and Economics Letters and presenting at prestigious national and international conferences.

Eric Chiang won the 2009 Distinguished Teacher of the Year Award from the Florida Atlantic University and Barry Kaye College of Business Stewart Distinguished Professorship Award.
Ky-Hyang Yuhn received the University Employee Service Awards for 15 years of service. We congratulate Dr. Chiang and Dr. Yuhn on their remarkable achievements.
