Field Experience General Information
Each hospitality management major is required to complete 1,000 hours of hospitality industry work experience prior to graduation. Each hospitality management minor is required to complete 500 hours of hospitality industry work experience prior to graduation.
This requirement is designed to provide students with realistic expectations of the industry and, further, to assure employers that FAU graduates are better prepared to enter the workforce upon grdauation. Students may receive credit for up to 500 hours of hospitality industry work experience earned prior to entering FAU as a student. These 500 hours must be reviewed by the hospitality management program director for a determination of acceptability. Acceptable credit is contingent upon the hospitality management program director's positive review of the actual duties completed, the type of hospitality employer where the student obtained his or her experience, and proof of the hours earned.
